INDICATIONS
Treatment of mucocutaneous candidal infections. Prophylaxis against invasive fungal infections in high risk VLBW infants.
FDA APPROVED INDICATION
Treatment of candidiasis in the oral cavity (oral suspension). Limited clinical studies inpremature and low birth weight infants indicate that 1 mL four times daily is effective
ADVERSE EFFECTS
Possible skin rash caused by vehicle in ointment/cream.
ADMINISTRATION
- Shake well before use.
- Use dropper to place one-half of the dose in each side of mouth and avoid feeding for 5 to 10 minutes.
MONITORING
Assess response to drug.
