FDA APPROVED INDICATION

Ascor® is indicated for the short-term (up to 1 week) treatment of scurvy in patients 5 months or older for whom oral administration is not possible, is insufficient, or is contraindicated.

Limitation of Use

Not indicated for the treatment of vitamin C deficiency not associated with signs and symptoms of scurvy.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

None.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Administration: Avoid rapid administration.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Too rapid IV administration of the solution may cause temporary faintness or dizziness.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Dilute into a large volume such as normal saline or dextrose.
  • Too rapid administration should be avoided.
